You’re probably familar with Toms shoes and their mission to give shoes to those in need, by donating one new pair for ever pair sold.

Now Toms is introducing their premium “Toms+” line and local Bob Ellis Shoes is hosting the launch of TOMS+ to the King Street shopping district.

They’ll host an event on Friday, October 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. with snacks and refreshments will provided by Halls Chophouse and Wineawesomeness.

DJ Natty Heavy will be spinning tunes.

Check out new work from our resident artists Jason Davis, Patch Whisky, and Ben Sellers + photography from the talented Bob Ailstock, Sandy Logan, and Candice Bizzell.

Gris Galerie presents What Secrets Have You Found

Gris Galerie is hosting its fourth pop up art show.

What Secrets Have You Found will feature Mia Berg, a Brooklyn, N.Y., based photographer who specializes in the relationship of the human form to nature.

Since graduating from Parsons School of Design in 2007, Berg has had four solo shows around New York City, N.Y., and has been a part of numerous group shows. Her adoration of Charleston and a chance meeting over brunch, brings Berg back to the Lowcountry to showcase her self-portraits. Berg has also no

tably assissted Spencer Tunick, world reknown photographer responsible for images of mass nudes.

Series included in the show are Forest and Field.

Avondale Restaurant Week is here! September 17-23.

A vibrant part of the West Ashley business community, the Avondale Point Business District continues to carve out it’s own identity within the larger Charleston Metropolitan area.

On Monday the Second Avondale Restaurant Week kicks off on the heels of Charleston Restaurant Week. Several restaurants in the area will be participating again this year with three-course meal deals.

Triangle Char & Bar, Mellow Mushroom, Pearlz Little Oyster Bar, Al-Di-La and The Roost are participating again this year. Each restaurant will offer a special menu featuring three courses for $20 per person.

Triangle General Manager Michael Lotz helped organize the first Avondale Restaurant Week in February. The idea was to piggy back off of the larger Charleston Restaurant Week activities to promote the restaurants in the Avondale area. It was a success and the participants are looking forward to another busy week.

Avondale Restuarant Week runs Sept. 17 – 23. Valet parking is available in the Avondale Point Business District in the evenings.

Swagger: Fashion Show, Fundraiser to Benefit Kids Chance, SC

On September 20th at 7pm, the Memminger Auditorium will host Kids Chance of SC to benefit and raise money for awareness of the local non-profit group that awards college scholarships to dependants of SC workers injured or killed on the job. Swagger: A Fashion Show and Fundraiser will highlight runway shows from local businesses including Mary Mojo Boutique, Paisley of Daniel Island and Bashful Boutique. Music to be provided by DJ BLISS, Performances by Dance FX, Food, and a cash bar. Event set up and production by D&M Productions and models provided by Tout. Hosting the event is Kelly G. from 95sx Two Girls and a Guy.

Restaurant Week features special prix fixe menus at a number of Charleston’s finest establishments. This time around, participating restaurants are offing 3 courses for $20, 3 courses for $30 or 3 courses for $40 options.

As an added bonus for out-of-towners, Charleston Hotels are offering up to 30% off nightly accommodations in conjunction with Charleston Restaurant Week.

Gris Galerie presents its Third Pop Up Art Show

Gris Galerie is hosting its third pop up art show featuring graffiti and mural artists from the Southeast.

Popular local, Ishamel, is bringing his artist friends to the Lowcountry. In the courtyard of the Old Gadsden Funeral Home, on a 100 ft. cinderblock wall, the artists will create an original mural for the night. There will be a tagged bus–most likely interactive. Also, hanging art will be for sale.

Refreshments provided and beats by Dr. Fuzz.

Popular street images of Ishmael’s include the girl with fern tears in Avondale, the screaming, menacing apes, and every spray-painted nod towards the artist’s namesake. He merely tags the title, Ishmael. He’d like for you to read the novel, but doesn’t want to be too pushy.
